Rapid Response: First Kroot and Commander

Wakacje się skończyły, pora się wziąć porządnie za codzienne malowanie - modele, było nie było, same się farbą nie ochlapią! Na rozgrzewkę wziąłem się poważnie za pierwszy model Kroota do mojej kadry Tau. Już jakiś czas temu nakreśliłem cały plan schematu kolorystycznego, który będzie pasował do pół-pustynnej planety, a Krooci są swoista inwersją tego schematu; kremowa, ziemista skóra, żółty odzień na dzióbku i w okolicach kolczastych narośli oraz odrobinka złamania koloru przez gradient z zieleni do czerwieni na 'włosach'. Broń będzie kontrastowo ciemna, wykonana z brązu i ciemnych metali zaś punktem spotowym będzie naramiennik z jaskrawym żółtym, głównym kolorem rozpoznawczym mojej kadry.

Vacations are over, it is finally time to get into some daily painting - after all model will not splash paints on them by themselves! For a warming up I seriously picked up on my Kroot from my Tau cadre. It was some time ago that I developed an entire plan for my color scheme that would suit to a half-desert planet envirnoment, and Kroots are somehow an inversion of that scheme; cream and earthy skin, yellowish tint on the beak and the places where the spikes portrude from their flesh and a tiny break in contrast on the hair with the green to red gradient glaze. Weaponry is painted in dark metallics and bronze, where the spot point of the figure would be it's pauldron, stark yellow - the main color of my cadre.

Jak widzicie nareszcie zacząłem testować mój nowy aparat - niestety, na obiektyw makro wciąż czekam, stąd póki co na tak wysuniętej lunecie mojej 24-70 ciężko uzyskać ostrość całego planu i dzięki temu rozmazuje wszystko poza punktem nastawienia ostrości, nieważne jak się spinam... tak czy siak fotki nareszcie pokazują model ostro, jasno i wyraźnie (*aż za bardzo!*).

As you can see I finally got a hold and tested my new, fancy photocamera - sadly I am still waiting for my macro lens and so far on my 24-70 on maximum zoom it is pretty much impossible to make every field of depth sharp and therefore aside from the focus point everything is a bit blurry, no matter what I try... Still, at least the photos are bright, sharp and clear like expected from a good photo camera (*even too much!*).

The very start of my projects!

Witam gorąco na moim warsztacie. Pytanie pierwsze brzmi – dlaczego mnożyć byty? Nie jest przecież tak, że Fireant.pl nagle nie mogłoby tych postów w siebie zmieścić, ponieważ ramówka jest pełna i nie mam gdzie ich upchnąć. Czemu więc nowy blog? Z powodu dwujęzyczności… i po części, tematyki. Tak, to również będzie blog o figurkach, ale zamiast męczyć się z recenzjami, felietonami i docinkami skupię się na tym, co ja właściwie robię z tym hobby. Na moich armiach. Czemu teraz? Ponieważ – przynajmniej na razie – mam czas, mam wolny czas żeby codziennie zainwestować go odrobinę w malowanie i kreację moich miniaturowych sił zbrojnych.

Welcome warmly into my workshop! First question is - why multiplying the places? It's not like I suddenly have no place on Fireant.pl to squeeze in extra posts because I have something planned for every single day. Why a new blog then? Mostly, because of this; two languages... also, because of the aim of the blog. Yes, it is also a place dedicated to miniatures and wargaming, but instead of reviews, editorials and snides this place is going to focus on what I excastly do with my hobby. On my armies. Why now? Simply because - at least for the time being - I will be having more of the free time, enough to invest a part of it daily into painting and creating my very own miniature armed forces.

▲ Zacznijmy więc od mojej armii Barona Gunthera Hossgarda (*przykro mi*) a dokładniej od jej kluczowych elementów - bohaterów. Powyżej praktycznie wszyscy dotychczasowi 'nazwani' herosi tejże armii, wliczając w to tytułowego Gunthera na piechotę (*kapitan z młotem!*). Jak widać, etap wysoce wczesny, wszyscy poklejenie na tyle ile potrzeba by było komfortowe malowanie - wciąż na złożenie czeka czarodziej ze szkoły magii metalu. Pomalowany jest kapitan Kloyd, dowódca Hossengardzkich Długich Mieczy - był eskperymentem, próbą pomalowania na ciemne, naturalne kolory; choć wygląda niezgorzej w rzeczywistości, ciężko uchwycić go dobrze na zdjęciu. Zresztą, stojący obok czempion baronii, egzekutor Friedrich reprezentuje początkowy etap malowania, w które będę mierzył - jak widać pracuję nad NMM efektem na mieczu oraz kolorach Stirlandu, w zamierzeniu znacznie żywszych niż w pierwszej próbie..

Let us begin with my Empire army of Baron Gunther Hossgard (*yes, I am sorry*) or to be more precise - it's key elements: the heroes. On the photo above you can see almost every 'named' hero in the force, including the titular Gunther on foot (*captain with the hammer*). As you can plainly see, it is still a very early step, all of them assembled as I need them to be comfortable with the painting - the wizard of the Metal Magic is however still waiting to be glued together. Fully painted is Captain Kloyd, the commander of the Hossengard Longswords - he was an experiment, an attempt to paint in a darker, more grim'n'grit tones; he looks better in reality than one can make him look on a photo. Next to him stood more recent miniature, the champion of the barony, executor Friedrich who shows first step of the painting scheme I am aiming at now - as you can see I am messing with NMM effect on the sword and the colors of Stirland, much more vivid and stark than the first attempt...

▲ A teraz przejdźmy do moich prac na Rapid Response, moją brygadą Tau (*z niecierpliwością czekam na nowy kodeks*). Powolutku rozkręcam ten biznes uzyskując trzy małe triumfy. Najpierw prawie całą dronę ukończyłem - i jestem zadowolony z efektu na tyle, by utrzymać ten schemat dla wszystkich następnych dron; mamy też tutaj podstawkę, prawie ukończoną. Kroot! Postanowiłem wynaleźć szybki sposób na malowanie skóry moich najemników, bo jest ich trochę. Zandri Dust na kolor bazowy, Ptraxi White do suchego pędzla po czym ciągniemy łoszem w kolorze Sepii od Vallejo by wygładzić i złagodzić rozjaśnienia po drybrush'u. Potem dwa razy laserunek, czerwony na 'włosach' oraz żółty na 'dziobku', ramionach oraz udach. Prosty sposób, a w miarę działa. A na koniec, nieostre zdjęcie fusion guna i plasmy - jestem zadowolony, nawet bardzo (*tylko lepsze zdjęcia muszę zrobić*) -  są blendy, są zdarcia farby, pasuje schematem do reszty i nawet popracowałem nad leciutkim OSL'em od purpurowego światła, wybranego dla detali do żółto-brązowego schematu.

And now let's move onto my work with Rapid Responce, my Tau cadre (*impatiently I am awaiting for a new codex*). Slowly I am making this business work, achieving three little triumphs. At first I amost finished the entire drone - and I am content from the outcome, enough in fact to keep the scheme for the rest of my drones; we can also see the base, almost finished as well. Kroot! I had to develop a simple and quick method for painting the skin of my mercenaries since there will be a few of them. Zandri Dust for a base, drybrushed with the Ptraxi White and washed with a Sepia Wash from Vallejo to smooth down and soften the hightlight after the drybrush. After that used two glazes, red on the 'hair' and yellow on the beak, thighs and shoulders. Simple method, quite effective. And at the end of the session, blurred photo of the fusion gun and plasma - I am content from them, even a lot (*just need better photos*) - have solind blending, weathering and paint chips, suting the color scheme of the rest of the model. Even worked a bit on a little OSL from the purple light chosen for details on this brown and yellow scheme.

I w ten oto sposób kończymy posiedzenie dnia dzisiejszego - wniosek? Zamiast kupować modele, muszę zainwestować w porządny aparat fotograficzny... No, to kończymy! Do miłego.

And that will be all for today session - conclusion? Instead of buying new models I should invest in a better photocmara.... well, that's all folk! See you later!
